Bloomsdale Elementary Project Ahead of Schedule

June 2023 — The Bloomsdale Elementary project is on target, under budget and ahead of schedule. The interior flooring is installed, the logo has been set into the floor, and the concrete has been poured outside of the entrance. The project is still ahead of schedule. If we are able to stick to this timeline, construction should finish in time to allow teachers to return in August and get a jump on the next school year.

New Addition Walls Go Up

April 2023 — Over the several weeks, the walls of the addition are up, sealed, and ready for stone and brickwork, and crews have begun working on the roof.

The front and back walls of the addition have a brick exterior, with the side wall still to go. The addition is under roof, and crews can now work inside on rainy days. The project has progressed to where work is a few weeks ahead of schedule.

Districts Holds Groundbreaking for Bloomsdale Elementary Project

February 2023 — The district held a groundbreaking on Feb. 9 to celebrate the start of construction, the first of several Prop SG groundbreaking events. In attendance were students, families, faculty and staff, facility committee members, Prop SG Campaign Committee members, campaign donors, Board of Education members, community leaders, business owners, elected representatives, Brockmiller Construction, Inc., and KRJ Architects.

Students led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance before helping the Board of Education members count down to turn a shovel of dirt! Students then had the opportunity to pick up a shovel and move some dirt themselves.

Bloomsdale Elementary Project Bids are Due, and Dirt Work is Scheduled

January 2023 — The district put the Bloomsdale Elementary package out for bid beginning on Jan. 5, and bids were due Jan. 19, 2023. The new secure entrance for Bloomsdale Elementary is composed of an approximately 1500 sq. foot addition as the new main entrance. This would allow the school office to securely welcome visitors and route them either into the office space or into the building. This space includes the double-gated entry, offices, a work space and a restroom. The existing spaces where the offices are currently located would then be renovated. At this time, dirt work is scheduled to begin on Monday, Feb. 6.

Plans for Bloomsdale Elementary New Addition Take Shape

December 2022 — The first of our Prop SG projects will be the new secure entrance and reconfigured offices at Bloomsdale Elementary.

This project was included under the Safety and Security priority under Prop SG as it will provide a multi-gated entryway with better line of sight for staff and visitors. You can view the building plans for the new secure entrance and reconfigured offices below. Of course, these plans are subject to change as we approach construction or as we need to make adjustments mid-project.

At this time, we anticipate breaking ground at Bloomsdale Elementary in late March or early April. It is our hope to have the Bloomsdale Elementary project complete by the beginning of August 2023. We will keep you informed of progress throughout the construction.

District and building administration and office staff are creating a plan for the office relocation during construction in the spring, and these plans will be shared with employees and families when appropriate.

Preliminary Floor Plan

Areas of Focus — Bloomsdale Elementary

  • Entry: Provide additional security by constructing a double-gated entry way vestibule for the front area.

  • HVAC: Install new heating and cooling systems.

  • Lagoon: The wastewater treatment facility (lagoon) located at Bloomsdale Elementary was removed from Prop SG as a priority, as the district received a five-year permit from the Department of Natural Resources.
